Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina 1/21/2014
JANUARY 21, 2014 (Tuesday)
Woke to sunshine. The cold front is supposed to move in tonight and it’s going to get cold.
We were up and out the door pretty early for us (around 11:00 AM). We headed to Cracker Barrel to return our book on tape and to have lunch (not necessarily in that order). Lexi had a pancake breakfast, Michael had the chicken salad and baked potato special that we had last week, and I had a pot pie special. After lunch we headed to Murrells Inlet to go to Brookgreen Gardens.
We really didn’t know what to expect at Brookgreen Gardens – so everything was fun and wonderful. We opted to do the zoo part first. Really enjoyed the river otters. They put on quite the show of fighting and playing in the water. Lexi decided she wanted one as a pet. Also enjoyed seeing eagles and all the other birds. We also got to see foxes in trees. Exciting. Nice little zoo.
After that we went to the gardens part, which are not really gardens like you would expect, but sculpture and gardens. Very beautiful. All very different and all very lovely. We plan on going back so we can see more as we felt rushed and want to spend more time. We also met some lovely people from Utah. Dave and Loralee. They were here visiting their kids and grandkids.
We left and headed to the Food Lion to pick up a few things. Then we had to stop at the front desk at our “home” to get another key as we had locked ourselves out when we left (first time; doing pretty good I think).
That was our day. Hope yours was great!
