Daytona Beach, Florida to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 1/18/2014

JANUARY 18, 2014 (Saturday)

Moving day! Yahoo! We were excited to be leaving the Silver Beach Club. We figured it couldn’t be any worse, and odds are it would be better. We left around 9:30 AM. It was so cold but the sun was shining. The drive today was about 450 miles and took about 8 hours. The weather was nice the whole trip.

We stopped for gas ($3.46 gallon) in Jacksonville, Florida, and then to the nearby Walmart. Michael and Lexi wanted new pillows for the car ride. After that it was all about the drive. We stopped for lunch in Savannah, Georgia at a Perkins Restaurant. Michael had a chicken fried steak, Lexi had a dessert for her meal, and I had a half a turkey sandwich and salad (with a piece of pie to go). Everything was fresh and good. The only other stop was for another tank of gas about an hour out of Myrtle Beach ($3.20 gallon).

Our GPS took us to the Holiday Inn Hotel on Ocean Boulevard, but it was the wrong one. I had remembered seeing the Holiday Inn Vacation Club before when we were here in November. Anyway, we ended up going to the Coral Reef registration desk and the kind lady told us where we needed to go. We were so close (and yet so far away). Registration was quick and easy. They tried to get us into a presentation but we were tired and said no. The young man told us where things were located and what was going on during the week. He was nice and informative.

Our room was a little drive through the gate and around the corner quite a bit. When we got into our room we were so thrilled! What a beautiful place. Everything is bright, new looking, and clean. Feels like we hit the jackpot. Overlooks the huge hot tub. Even the plates and bowls are yellow and bright. Absolutely gorgeous place. Loving it. So glad, especially after the last two weeks (except our time at Ocean Walk).

That was our moving day. Hope yours was great!
