Museum of Arts and Sciences, Daytona Beach, Florida 1/17/2014
JANUARY 17, 2014 (Friday)
Woke up to sunshine again. Was so glad to see it two days in a row. Was a very lazy morning/early afternoon.
Around 1:00 PM we headed off to Applebee’s for lunch. Lexi had been wanting some chicken wings and had asked last night to go today. We got there and were able to be seated right away. Lexi got her wings (along with some cheese sticks), Michael got a Napa chicken with portabella mushroom dish, and I got two kinds of salads (oriental and I forget the other one). Everything was excellent and just the right amount. Afterwards, Lexi and I each had a brownie bite (a very small piece of warm brownie with a very small scoop of ice cream). It was a luncheon special dessert ($1.99 each). Just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth.
After lunch we weren’t sure what we were going to do but I had been wanting to return some items we have been carrying around for a couple of weeks. We really don’t have the room for “storage” so thought we should return them. We found the TJ Maxx store to do the returns, but first we wanted to go to Tuesday Morning, which was right next door to TJ Maxx. Love that store. Haven’t been in one in awhile. Next off, TJ Maxx. We were able to get a return for store credit only because we couldn’t find the receipt. I’m sure we have it but not sure which bag it’s in. Lexi and I went through two bags of receipts but couldn’t find it.
After we returned the items (and did a little looking around), we were driving home and remembered a sign for a museum off International Speedway Drive. We weren’t sure which museum it was but decided to go. (Lexi didn’t want to go but said she’d wait in the car as long as we hurried.) When we got to the museum, we were glad to see it was the Museum of Arts and Sciences (MOAS). What a great place. Loved the Cuban collections, the Napoleon exhibit, and the giant sloth. There were lots of other exhibits too – Coca Cola, decorative arts, early American arts, quilts, and many more I can’t remember. (They also have a planetarium and a kid’s area.) Was really nice and we would have loved to have spent more time, but that will have to wait until our next visit to Daytona Beach.
After the museum we went “home.” Michael wants to make dinner with all the leftovers so we don’t have to pack them with us tomorrow. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
