Merritt Island, Florida 12/27/2013
DECEMBER 27, 2013 (Friday)
Lazy morning. I only got up and put on my robe to answer the door for the handyman. He was here to fix our sink and toilet. The sink was totally plugged up (and also leaking), and the toilet was constantly running. He fixed both things quickly and easily and was gone. Glad to have our sink back. I think when I peeled the potatoes, I tried to overfill the garbage disposal and it didn’t like it.
We all left our “home” around 12:45 PM to head to Merritt Island to the movies. Michael was wanting to see “Saving Mr. Banks,” (about Walt Disney) before it left the theaters. Lexi and I tagged along but weren’t really all that excited about seeing it. I do like Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson, though. The Merritt Square 16 Cinemas is in the back of a large shopping mall. We parked and Michael bought our tickets, our popcorn, and a drink for Lexi. I snuck in two waters and a pepsi for me in my purse.
When we got to the theater (auditorium 3), we were surprised at how crowded it was. Almost full. We had to take a seat near the front and to the side. Everything started on time and went smoothly until about 45 minutes into the show. All of a sudden the movie stopped, strobe lights started sounding and an automated warning came on that there might be a fire and exit the nearest exit as quickly as possible. Michael held the exit door (the sign wasn’t very well lit for the dark theater) and held it for the whole process (about twenty minutes). Quite exciting. As predicted, no fire. Probably kids playing a prank and not realizing how inconvenient it was for some of the older people to get around and out of the theater. (I think the whole mall had to exit.)
Anyway, we got back into the theater and the movie started about five minutes later. What a good movie. We all really enjoyed it. Didn’t realize what a character, P.L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins was, or what a nice guy Walt Disney was. Would highly recommend the movie. Michael wants to go back to the theater and see “The Hobbit” in IMAX on another day.
After the movie we went shopping and I got a new blouse. I like it because it’s a little longer than a “normal” blouse. Lexi looked for something but the only thing she saw that she liked was a skirt and she doesn’t need another one of those.
We are now back home. Michael fixed dinner (leftovers) tonight. Yummy. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
