Mizner Place, Weston, Florida 12/10/2013
DECEMBER 10, 2013 (Tuesday)
Pretty lazy day. We had gotten notices under our door that people would be coming into our room to inventory the towels (?) around 10:00 AM, so Michael and I just lazed around waiting, and waiting, and waiting. They finally showed up around noon. After that we took showers and went for a walk.
We walked around the Weston Town Center. It’s a lovely shopping center with flowers, water fountains, lots of brick work, and fun stores and restaurants. We decided to have lunch at a place called “Libations.” It’s a wine place where you can purchase a taste, a half glass, or a full glass of wine from machines that are kinda like a gas pump where they show the price and type of wine. The country’s flag where the wine is from is shown above the machines. There were probably fifty or so kinds of wines you could sample if you wanted (and if you had enough money on your card).
In order to use the machines, you have to buy a wine card for $2.50 and then “load” it up with the amount you want, I think up to $200.00. Fun. We opted not to get any wine but we did want to have lunch. Michael ordered a chicken wrap and I had chicken empanadas with mango sauce. Both were very tasty.
We got into a conversation with Karen, who works there. She was saying she was from Michigan and has been down here for nine years. She says it’s different down here in that people are not as friendly as other areas of Florida. How sad. We’ve heard that a lot but the majority of the people here have been nice to us.
Probably going to go swimming again tonight but that was our day. Hope yours was great!
