Kissimmee, Florida to Weston, Florida 12/08/2013

DECEMBER 8, 2013 (Sunday)

Moving day! The drive to Weston, Florida was approximately four hours (it’s about 175 miles). Mostly toll roads.

Got up around 8:00 AM and were on the road by 10:00 AM. We stopped at Subway for breakfast, and then drove a little ways down the street for gas ($3.36 gallon). We got into Weston around 2:00 PM. We checked in but our room wasn’t ready. Carlos, was very helpful and said they were working on it and to come back in about an hour.

Edie made me turn around in the parking lot to get pictures of this car. She thought it one of the ugliest she had ever seen.

Filled up at Race Fuels, $3.36 a gallon.

Nice upscale city. The Boulevard our place is located on is lushly landscaped, so much so that you can't see addresses and the businesses are located back inside centers. Off the Boulevard you get glimpses of water and fountains. Very nice.

We left and drove just a little bit. This resort is very, very close to a nice shopping area. There were many restaurants and we decided on Italian and went to Del Vecchio’s. Michael ordered a panini sandwich, I got some penne pasta with broccoli, and Lexi got a salad. All very good. The waiter was so funny. He was from Detroit and couldn’t wait to get back. He’s here going to medical school and said he feels he’s in a third world country because no one bothers to speak English. We told him he should avoid California then.

Lex got a salad. Edie got a roll with her pasta. The waiter brought 6 huge rolls smothered in garlic and olive oil. Really good. Took these 4 home and they heated up nicely in the micro.

After linner, Lexi and I walked back to the resort while Michael drove. The room still wasn’t ready. We asked Carlos at that time if unit B was available, which he said it was. We asked if we needed to call RCI to book it or if they could upgrade for us. Carlos said to come back when it wasn’t so crazy (they were checking in lots of people) and talk to a manager. We walked down to the computer room to wait for awhile. They let you use the computers for fifteen minutes and then you get kicked off. We then switched to the TV room to watch the Miami Dolphins battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Saw a great play by the Dolphins and they went on to win. Good game and the locals were happy.

We went back around 4:15 PM to the registration and talked to Carlos. He said our room was ready and gave us our keys. There was a manager, Brandi, working next to him. Carlos asked her about the upgrade and she was so nice and quickly made it happen. Thank you, thank you, thank you. How nice and no hassle whatsoever. Lexi is now in her own “home” and doesn’t even want us having a key in case of an emergency. Glad she gets her own space.

The resort is almost exactly like the one in Kissimmee, except no washer and dryer in this unit. Very beautifully decorated and we’re on the ground floor. Wifi is included in the $25.00 resort fee for the week. Gonna be fun exploring the shopping area close by, and also the other areas. It’s beautiful down here. Much more lush and tropical feeling (if that’s possible).
