Vacation Village at Parkway, Kissimmee, Florida 12/3/2013

DECEMBER 3, 2013 (Tuesday)

Happy birthday Aune Renee!

Slept in nicely and woke to beautiful skies. It’s supposed to get up to 75 degrees today (in December). Pretty nice.

We left our “home” around 11:00 AM and just went looking around. We stopped at a couple of places to look at gifts. Lexi is looking for Christmas presents for her best friend’s little sister, Amber. Amber is into Ariel, or something like that. Lexi really didn’t find anything but wants to keep looking.

Around 11:40 AM, we went to the timeshare presentation at the resort we are staying at – Vacation Village at Parkway. We were taken to lunch at a nice buffet at a local hotel by Will. Will normally is higher up the chain but it’s a slow time of year so he’s helping out while others take time off.  He was fun to talk to and he knew pretty much right away that we weren’t interested in buying. They did send a lovely lady over, Charlotte, to try to convince us. They have something like a 44,000 point, every other year, resale type thing, for around $4,000.00. We’re talking about it and going to research it. Might work for us. Also, they didn’t say you have to buy right now, which I really appreciate and like not being so pressured. After the tour we went and got our $100.00 Visa card ($80.00 presentation gift and $20.00 deposit we had given). We were done quickly.

We drove around for awhile and went shopping. We happened by a discount ticket booth and are going on another timeshare presentation tomorrow. The guy, Jon, was very funny and very nice when we told him what we wanted. We’re getting a deep discount on three 2 day Disney tickets. Should be worth it, hopefully.

We’re looking for carry bags so we have something more substantial than plastic bags that we throw into the back of the car. We looked at Ross – Tuesdays are senior discount days – but they didn’t have anything. Then we went over to Burlington and found something we’re going to try. It’s on wheels and holds a lot of stuff. Hoping it works out. After that we went to a Shoe Rack Store and got Michael some New Balance tennis shoes. It was a buy one get one half off so he got two pairs. He has a hard to find size so it was nice finding several in his size.

Lastly we went to Publix Supermarket and did some grocery shopping. Lexi said she wants meatloaf while we’re here so we got the stuff for that, and a bunch of other things that we can munch on while here. I think the most astonishing thing was our little bagger, Lucy. She’s 85 years old and still bagging and putting groceries into the cars and taking back the shopping carts. She was so cute and such a good attitude. She said she needed to work and loves her job, that it beats staying home and looking at the walls because she get to meet people and really loves that.

Lucy, what fun. 85 and strong. Would brook no interference with the performance of her duties, insisted on doing it herself. She has a wonderful attitude.

We are now back “home,” very tired. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
