Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Montgomery, Alabama 11/29/2013

NOVEMBER 29, 2013 (Friday)

Happy birthday sister!

Moving day. We got up around 7:30 AM and were out the door around 9:00 AM. It was all about the drive today. We drove almost 500 miles to Montgomery, Alabama. We had to drive around Atlanta, Georgia. Would have loved to be able to check it out and explore, but that will have to wait until another trip. The drive was lovely, all interstate. We stopped for lunch and for gas ($3.26 a gallon) at a BP somewhere in Georgia. So grateful the weather is lovely.

It didn't show up very good, but at long last we have a gps that shows elevation. I had Lex ask Siri on her iphone what our elevation was and SIRI said, "I am sorry, I left my tricorder on the space ship."

I think this was the Savannah river.

Can't see it very well, welcome to Georgia sign, "Glad you have Georgia on your mind..."

Atlanta is a mess. We had both GPS systems going!

Drove past the KIA assembly plant outside Atlanta.

The Sun nailed us directly in the eyes for about 20 minutes as we headed due west.

We got into Montgomery, Alabama around 5:00 PM (actually 6:00 PM but there was a time change). We are at the Day’s Inn. Already missing resort living as the place is dirty, not filthy but hairs here and there that you know aren’t yours. I’ll have Michael check for bed bugs. The hotel is filling up so I hope it’s not bad.

Days Inn, not the best we've seen, not the cleanest.

Michael and I went out for dinner. Ended up at China King down the road. Like we’ve said before, things in the South are very different. The Chinese food was very bland compared to what we’re used to. We had lemon chicken, vegetable fried rice and soup.

Edie and I went out for dinner, settled on Chinese.

It is really just a take out place on Zelda Road. Couldn't believe how busy it was, how much food they were pumping out. We got ours, ate it there and were amazed at how they could put all those things together and supress almost all flavor from coming through.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
