Silverleaf Holiday Hills – Branson, Missouri 10/24/2013
OCTOBER 24, 2013 (Thursday)
Woke up to a beautiful sunny day, but with a little wind.
We left around 10:00 AM to go to the activity center to work on the computers before our “presentation” at 11:00 AM. At about ten minutes to 11:00 AM, we walked over to the presentation building across from the activity center. We checked in at the front desk and then went into the area where they have coffee, tea, and water for you. We waited there for about forty minutes before a nice man, Jess, came over to us to ask if we could reschedule for tomorrow. We told him we were leaving in the morning. He said he’d see what he could do. A few minutes later he handed us the envelope with the $80.00 in Visa cards, answered our questions, and we were on our way without the presentation. Apparently they were short staffed and overbooked. Worked out well for us but would have liked to have told them how nice the resort is but it desperately needs internet.
We left and went to get Lexi. While we were are our “home,” we had our leftover lunch from Olive Garden. After a little bit we left to go do the go carts again. Michael bet Lexi that if she won, she would get a $40.00 Visa gift card. When we got to the go cart place there was a large group racing. We had to wait for them to finish with the slower go carts and then get into the faster ones. I was at the very end, Lexi in front of me, and three men ahead of her.
Out of the gate, almost immediately, I passed Lexi and the race was on. I even managed to pass one of the men in front of Lexi, but he finally got his position back. I was excited to learn I was #1 on the leader board for the day at the go cart place. Fun. Lexi still claims she let me win because my driving scared her.
After the go carts we went to a little craft place. Fun to look at some of the unique stuff they have around here. Then off to Red Lobster to get a dessert. Lexi is paying with her gift card. She also wanted a drink and got a mud slide and an appetizer to share. Really good but we need to start doing better with our diet.
Once we finished eating we headed for Inspiration Point. Michael waited near the bottom while Lex and I went in to get our tickets for the zip line. Once inside we were told the zip line wasn’t running due to the wind. Lexi and I went up to the observation deck for a few minutes and got to enjoy the view. We were disappointed, however, that we didn’t get to zip.
On the way back to our “home,” Lexi asked if we could do Ripley’s Believe It or Not. We used the Branson Discount Card and both Lexi and I got in for a little over $30.00. Was fun but not worth the $30.00. The coolest part was the psychedelic bridge they have that you think is twisting and turning. It’s right at the end.
We are now back at the activity center doing the blog. Later on we’ll be doing laundry and packing, getting ready for the move to Crossville, Tennessee tomorrow. We are hoping to see cousins Wally, Kathy and Bobby while in Tennessee, and meeting Wally’s wife.
That was our day. Hope yours was grand!
