Crown Point Resort – Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas 10/13/2013

OCTOBER 13, 2013 (Sunday)

Happy birthday Noah!

Another lovely Arkansas day. We got up early and went to the meet and greet in the rec room at 9:00 AM. Joe, the Activities Director, told us about things in the area and then a man from a local fishing company spoke. Before Joe spoke, there was a really good guitar player.

Meet and Greet with an excellent guitar player. I'll get his name when I go to the performance Wednesday night.

We went back to our “home” and just lazed for a little bit, then Michael and I went for a drive to Salem, Arkansas (about fifteen miles away). Not much there but they did have a Sonic and a DQ, more than in Horseshoe Bend. Really old town.

Huge lawns everywhere. Even with a riding mower, we are talking hours to mow.

Around 5:30 PM, we went over to the restaurant associated with the resort, Papa Dick’s Pizza, and had dinner. Michael had the dinner special, chicken, garlic bread and salad; Lexi and I split a calzone. It was all really good. While we were having dinner we were told that this was a dry county and they could only sell beer and wine in the restaurant, that we weren’t allowed to buy it to go. We had to sign our names and addresses in a log.

At 6:30 PM, we walked over to the rec room and waited for the Elvis show. Joe, the Activities Director, is Elvis. He did an okay job and worked his butt off. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. He told really hokey jokes throughout the show. He is a handsome guy and Michael said he felt like he was watching Tommy Lee Jones doing an Elvis impersonation.

That was our day. Hope yours was wonderful!
