AUGUST 27, 2013 (Tuesday)

Brother John took us to breakfast at Shari’s Restaurant. Michael had pancakes and John and I had scrambled eggs, hash browns, and toast. Good and filling.

I had driven our Prius to the restaurant so I could go tent shopping after breakfast. Michael said he’d like to try camping at our place in Prunedale for the week. Trying to get a hotel in Monterey over Labor Day weekend is next to impossible, plus very expensive. I was thrilled because I’ve been thinking that this is another fun option to full time timesharing, AirBnb’ing, now camping.

I went down to the local Fred Meyer store and looked at their tents. They had one that you could supposedly put up in one minute or less. A little expensive but it sounded nice. Then I went to Costco, down Lancaster Drive to Dick’s Sporting Goods, and then down to Big 5. I found a good Coleman brand tent for under $70.00 at Big 5. It sleeps five and holds two queen size air mattresses. I bought it and a tarp for underneath. (We like to buy things in Oregon because of no sales tax. We also like Oregon because they pump our gas.)

When I got home Michael said that he had talked to our daughter and she wants to spend the time at her friend’s home and we can stay in the studio. Not sure if we’re going to keep the tent or not. Maybe, and if we don’t use it we can return it to the Big 5 in Salinas while we’re there. We’ll let you know if we’re gonna camp or gonna studio it.

Michael and John have been working on getting John’s new computer up and running. What a chore. It’s taking all day. We did leave for a bit to go see Brother Jim and Anna. Jim just had ankle replacement surgery. He even managed to get out of bed for a visit. Was good to see both of them and know Jim is on the mend, with the help of his lovely nurse/wife Anna. After that quick visit we went to one of our favorite restaurants here in Keizer, Dos Hermonos. Really good food, not really Mexican, not really Salvadorian, just good food.

The new computer.
The new computer.
The old computer. We transferred the files using Windows Easy Transfer. It may have been easy but it sure took a long time.

We are now back at brother John’s and the guys are back at working on the computer. That was our day, hope yours was grand!
