HAPPY BIRTHDAY – Arla and Machaira!  Love you both!

Mike here.  It is yet another lazy retiree day.  We slept in nicely, had a nice breakfast, watched an episode of Perry Mason.  Edie served us a modest lunch and then later made an outstanding dinner – chicken, pasta, tomatoes, broccoli, a touch of mozzarella cheese.  It was delicious.  I was the only one who went out to mail a letter to the U.S.

It was one of those days.  Rain, traffic, disappearing parking spots.  I drove around the Post Office 3 times. Two ambulances and a fire truck had traffic backed up all over the place.  Finally gave up, parked 2 blocks away, and when I got to the Post Office there were 3 parking spots wide open.

In looking for the Canadian Post Office I found the Victoria Public Library.

Nice people inside, I felt on familiar turf – works just like in the U.S.  I am mailing a credit card to my property manager for some materials for a new roof for our house.  You can’t see it but I am crying right now.  Going to cost around $7,000 U.S.  Ended up filling out a declaration form for what was inside the envelope.   The nice lady told me they are very fussy in the U.S. if there is something more than just documents in the envelope.  I told her I mailed a birthday card the other day, from a drop box, and it had a gift card in it.  I asked her if it would go through.  She shrugged her shoulders and said, “I don’t know.”  I asked if they would then send it to my return address, which is in the States.  She said, “Good question.”  She could have a future in politics.

Thought it was a dog supply store, it's a phone store.

On the way home I stopped at Ooh La La and bought cupcakes for dessert.  Tomorrow is Edie’s birthday, a pre-celebration offering.  By tradition, I am her servant tomorrow, she is Queen for a day.  On top of the new roof it is almost too much.  I got a chocolate and a lemon.  Edie doesn’t like too much chocolate.
