AUGUST 3, 2013 (Saturday)

Happy birthday to my beloved husband. I am so grateful to have him. He is okay with my weird ways and wanting to travel. But – he’s officially OLD now. Because it was his birthday, we did exactly what he wanted to do all day. I was at his beck and call, and he was very specific on how he wanted his breakfast, his lunch, and his dinner. Can’t wait until my birthday to get even.

We did mostly nothing all day. Living in our cave, we can’t really tell what the weather is like. We thought it was still raining and drizzling. When we finally did venture out, it looked like it had been a lovely day and was still sunny. We went to Safeway to get a peach cobbler, but they didn’t have it so Michael settled for cherry pie and ice cream. I’m okay with that.  We also found some chips our son and his significant other told us about, ketchup flavored.

Fighting gout while celebrating birthday, wah-la, cherry pie!

Then we went to KFC. KFC is very different here. The cole slaw is more like a pudding than a slaw, and the chicken only comes in original or spicy, no extra crispy.  There was interesting, and we think professionally painted graffiti behind KFC. We saw our first sign about doing away with pennies in Canada. It is nice not to have a pocket full of pennies.

Even the adjoining fence seems professionally graffiti'ed.

It looks to nice and big to be street graffiti.

They have done away with the penny and it is nice. Kind of a little lottery every time you buy something, will it round up? Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. Nice not having the pennies piling up in pockets and jars.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
