JULY 30, 2013 (Tuesday)
Today was all about Butchart Gardens. We got there around 1 PM and walked, looked, and took pictures of everything we could.
Canadian Flags over the entrance.
We debated whether we should get an annual pass and decided against it.
The old rock quarry.
So very beautiful.
Hanging gardens section. Every basket exploding with color.
There are many water features at Butchart Gardens.
Grumpy old man hand dictating direction of travel.
We do love Butchart Gardens but it was so crowded we didn’t like the thought of fighting the crowds again, even as lovely as it is. We saw more than we saw when we were here a few years ago on a cruise excursion.
From the platform in the center.
Pond. The water in the bottom of the quarry is up to 40 feet in some places.
Ross fountain for a second time.
So many views.
Topiary Dragon Flyes
Homage to the insects, topiary bees.
Exit to Japanese garden section.
Pretty woman loitering on a bridge.
A bamboo teeter totter that fills with water and dumps, rocking back and forth.
Mossy Japanese Lantern
Edie really liked the Italian section.
I really like the combinations of color they use here.
Lucky boar nose? We didn’t rub it.
Great chess set.
Pretty woman pretending to photograph flowers but really photographing me. I think she wants me!
After Butchart, we took a lovely drive back through Cordova Bay and another large park area called Mt Douglas. Lovely. I could live here. I wonder what it’s like during the winter.
Cordoba Bay View.
We got back and our deer friend from yesterday was here. We were afraid it had brought it’s attorney to file charges. Turns out it was just hungry and was eating the vegetable plants on the side yard. Fun.
Edie is convinced that this is the deer that yesterday tried to commit suicide by jumping out of the bushes onto the side of our car. She thinks it is sauntering with a limp!
Our landlord’s backyard.
We’re talking about and planning a far North trip to Port Hardy. I’m excited. I’m hopeful we’ll get to see bear and eagles. For dinner it’s all about one of the salads we got at Costco on Sunday.
Hope your day was great!
