Costco, Langford – Victoria, BC, Canada 7/28/2013

JULY 28, 2013 (Sunday)

Michael swore his neck was feeling better and he wanted to get out and do something. After my culture shock of prices here yesterday, we decided to try to find Costco in Langford, about ten miles from Victoria. Our Toyota Prius is 6 years old and the maps are out of date so it didn’t recognize the address. We decided to wing it and just went on an adventure. Michael had looked it up on Google maps and had an idea which way to go. He gave directions. I went the way he told me but feel like it was my efforts that actually got us there. Got to see lovely country and back roads.

Edie was fascinated by these three flags, a Canadian, a Union Jack and we could not figure out the third. Sorry for the photo.

Not sure what a "micro-loft" is, other than $110,000. Today's exchange rate is .97 us = 1.00 Canadian.

We finally found it. And Michael’s neck is doing okay, very little discomfort. Hopefully, tomorrow it will be 100% better.

Canadian Costco!

Things sure are different in Canada. Lots of the items are in French. They have a thing called poutain here. It’s French fries, cheese curd, and gravy. Lots and lots of calories but it sure looks good. Prices are more normal to me at Costco so we did most of our month’s shopping here. We also had lunch. They have the $1.50 hot dog and drink. They don’t have the yogurt, but do have real ice cream. Also, we got 2 huge tubes of Voltaren gel for his neck here, over the counter ($10.00 each tube). In the U.S., we had to have a prescription for it and it’s quite expensive.

No pennies in my pocket! Just noticed, no pennies up here. They do penny rounding.

Voltaren is over the counter here, yahoo! I think I paid $75.00 for one tube last time I got it. 2 giant tubes for 19.99! Rotisserie Chicken is almost double though.

After our shopping adventure, we headed back home but drove to the end of the road and then turned around. What a beautiful neighborhood. Many of the homes are mini-mansions with beautifully manicured yards. We feel like we’re in Carmel.

Tonight is our date night (PBS Masterpiece Mystery). Hope your day was wonderful.
