Yreka, California to Keizer, Oregon 7/24/2013

JULY 24, 2013 (Wednesday)

We were dressed and out the door by 9 AM. Michael’s neck is marginally better this morning but I still did the driving and stuff he normally does (blue jobs). We went to McDonald’s again for breakfast and drove all the way through to Salem. In South Salem, we called our friends Larry and Rene. They had just moved from Toledo, Oregon to Salem, Oregon and we wanted to drop a bottle of wine off to them. They were home and we stopped by.

They live in a beautiful new home right on Mill Creek. Their patio goes over Mill Creek into a lovely green belt area. It’s like being on vacation full time. Nice. Their home has everything – large walk-in closet, pantry, large laundry room, wood floors, modern colors. Lovely. Trying to talk Michael into something like that when we officially settle down (but not anytime soon, unless his neck doesn’t get any better).

After we left Larry and Rene, we went to Costco and looked for a new camera.  My big Canon gets too heavy on my neck so we’re looking for something smaller.  Didn’t find anything, but we did have lunch.  Over lunch I realized there are three things I like about Oregon – (1) family; (2) no sales tax; and (3) they pump the gas for you.  It’s lovely here now, downright hot.  Sure beats the rain we usually get when we’re here.

We got into brother John’s place around 3 PM or so and got a nice visit in before we went to dinner at Shari’s. Just so happened it was free pie Wednesday. Couldn’t get any better than that.

Hope your day was awesome!
