Lodi, California to Monterey, California 7/21/2013
JULY 21, 2013 (Sunday)
Got up, cleaned up, stripped the bed, packed up and had a small breakfast and headed out. Maureen looked so sad as we left, I wish we could do more or wave a magic wand and make everything better. We will be praying for her and calling her and Don from the road.
We left and headed down the road about five miles to a McDonald’s and got some coffee. After that it was straight to Gilroy to the Costco there.
We wanted to pick up some food and things for our daughter in Prunedale. She is not working at this time and needs the help. We got to Lexi’s place around 1 PM and got a nice visit in with Lexi and the dogs, Beans and Kiki. Beans was having a hard day and was shaking quite a bit. Worried us. Michael read up on the internet but not sure what to think about it. He had never done it before. He seemed to calm down after awhile but sure was worrisome.
We got a nice little visit in with our property manager/neighbor, and also our renter on top of the hill in our home. She’s a nice lady who watches out for our daughter. We appreciate her a lot. We were going to take our daughter out to dinner but that didn’t work out. We also got to put some things into the conex, and take out our clock that we’ve been missing. It shines the time on the ceiling. We both love it as we don’t have to crane our necks to see what time it is.
We left Prunedale and headed for our hotel in Monterey. It is right across the street from the lower entrance to Del Monte Center. We walked over to Chipotle for dinner and discovered a lovely little creek near the Del Monte Center sign. After dinner we walked down to Verizon to ask about going to Canada and what to expect as far as charges go. We were advised to call and get the Canada plan, or talk to customer service about options. Don’t want a big surprise on our phone bill when we’re in Canada.
Our hotel room is very small but it’s just for tonight so it will be fine. It is the constant rub of knowing that we are paying more per night and getting one fourth of the room and amenities. They offer a breakfast and free internet. I got it from Priceline for $70.00 plus tax a night. We can usually do better but lots of things are going on this weekend in the Monterey/Salinas areas. The Salinas California Rodeo, the Mazda Laguna Seca Grand Prix, gearing up for the Garlic Festival in Gilroy. Roads were very crowded, especially with crazy motorcycle drivers.
Hope your day was great!
