Lake Tahoe – Reno, Nevada 7/1/2013

JULY 1, 2013 (Monday)

Had to get up early. Well, we told you we’d let you know the good, the bad, and the ugly of this adventure. Last week I experienced a medical problem (female related) and wanted to get it checked out. We looked up OBGyn’s and found those that accept our insurance. We called several and they were booked for weeks. Before we went to the ER or Urgent Care, I called my sister, who lives in the area, and she recommended her ObGyn. They were able to get me in today in Carson City. Everything is fine. Quite minor and easily addressed with medication. I want to be in good condition to continue our adventure.

After the doctor we went to Lake Tahoe. It’s been really hot in Reno and we love Tahoe so we drove over there.

Also, our favorite Italian restaurant, Primo Italiano, is there. We stopped in to have lunch and then continued on.

Inside the restaurant. We really intended to include a picture of the food. Saw the food, ate the food. Sorry.

We were surprised at how busy South and North Lake Tahoe were. The roads were full. The bike paths were full, and the Truckee River was overfull with rafters, tubers and kayakers. Traffic on Interstate 80 was horrible with a huge backup. Apparently a tractor trailer had caught fire and traffic was slow. It took a long time to get back into Reno. Good thing we weren’t in a hurry.

Edie was hanging out the window taking photo's as I drove.

When we got back we decided to update the costs on our blog, and Michael worked on tweaking the blog. The costs are a little higher than we had hoped but I think we can do better. We paid more for three of our weeks this month because we wanted to make sure we were in the areas of Las Vegas and Reno for family visits. We’ll see what happens next month. I’m determined to get it closer to the $2,500.00 per month mark.

We’re sitting in our room listening to the band play down at the Wingfield Park. We have a great view of all the activities. Artown starts today and there’s lots of things happening, and a lot of them are down at Wingfield Park. We’re thinking about going to check it out but it’s raining so we’ll see. A Pink Floyd tribute band  is playing “Dark Side of The Moon” tonight.
