Red Rock Canyon – Las Vegas, Nevada 6/15/2013
JUNE 15, 2013 (Saturday)
Michael got up earlier but I slept in a little as I had a really hard time getting to sleep last night. When I did drag myself out of bed, we had our coffee and breakfast, then left to return some items and head out to Red Rock Canyon. We did stop at the front desk to see if the tickets for “Defending the Caveman” had arrived. Was delighted to see they had.
I was surprised at how close Red Rock Canyon is. Just a few minutes drive. We got to the gate and Michael was able to use his senior pass. Love it. The scenic route is approximately thirteen miles. It was lovely but very reminiscent of Bryce, Zion, and Valley of Fire, but not as spectacular. I was hoping to see some wild life, even a snake, nothing. Glad we went though because we had been wanting to.
After the scenic route we decided to go to Blue Diamond just for fun. It’s about six miles from Red Rock Canyon. What a cute little town. Reminded me of Mayberry from the old Andy Griffith Show. Town pool, cute little homes, nice feel. I could live there. Felt safe and clean.
We headed back down the hill and went to Whole Foods. Came home and Michael made the most delicious salad, corn, and bread.
Around 4:30 PM, I was done and went to bed. A few minutes after I climbed in to bed for a nap, housekeeping showed up to clean the place. Oh well, I tried. We’re hoping to go to see the fountains at the Bellagio tonight. We’ll let you know tomorrow.
