Big Cottonwood Canyon – Snowbird, Utah 5/31/2013

MAY 31, 2013 (Friday)

We ended up going back to the pool and hot tub for awhile last night. Spent most of the time talking with another nice couple. Afterwards we went back to the room and watched TV.

Michael woke up with gout today. We think it’s from the tuna he had last night. That’s what we get for splurging I guess. Anyway, today will have to be a lazy day so he can keep off his foot. It’s pretty swollen. After lunch (hummus, egg white scramble and fruit), we drove to the end of our canyon here, Little Cottonwood, and checked out Alta ski area. We were surprised that the timeshare resorts (Cliff’s, Iron Blosam) have grass on their roofs.

We then drove down to Big Cottonwood Canyon. Lovely. Totally different than Little Cottonwood Canyon. Saw deer and beaver dams with little lakes behind them. Glad we did it.

Edie had to park and hike a ways to get a picture of this beaver damn.

The rest of the day was spent on the computer and taking a nap. We are hoping Michael’s foot will be good enough by tonight for him to walk down to the pool. I’ll let you know tomorrow.   We depart in the morning, heading to Mesquite, Nevada.
