Tram – Snowbird, Utah 5/27/2013

MAY 27, 2013 (Monday) (Our daughter’s 21st birthday today)

We started off by texting our daughter a “Happy Birthday” message. We got up early to do the tai chi and meditation. It was okay, not great. The instructor was hard to follow and we’re pretty uncoordinated so…not sure if we’re gonna try it again or not. We did it in a lounge area and it really should be done in a room with lots of mirrors so you stand a chance of seeing what the instructor is doing. She gave a lot of good advice about practicing your balance if you want to keep it.  She talked about watching kids learning to balance and trying similiar things.  After that back to the room to change for water aerobics. Same instructor. She was a little better in the pool to follow. Michael and I felt like we had a workout when we were done. An hour of touching this and touching that, bouncing this way and that, kicking here and kicking there, punching, pushing, etc. etc..

We went back to the room, had a quick lunch, and then walked to the tram. Not far from the timeshare. Tickets were $16 each to ride to the top and back. Wait was minimal. Was fun to see all the snow people in costumes and regular snow gear. We saw Princess Lea from Star Wars, a guy in a bathrobe, lots of bikini tops and short shorts. Weather was beautiful. The tram went up the hill much faster than I thought. Absolutely stunning on top.

Passing another tram. They go quite fast and sway to and fro for a while when they pass a tower.

Went back to the room and took a little nap. Hey, we’re retired and old so….needed our nap time. Later in the afternoon we went to a get together in the 3rd floor lounge. Very low key and fun. Wine, cheese, crackers, candy. They had everyone introduce themselves after the employees had gone over the activities. No sales pitch or anything. The place sells itself. Once again, the number of people who have owned this resort since the 1970’s is mind blowing to us. Such a nice place. It does not look or feel as old and well used as it is. One of the treats of traveling as we are is meeting so many nice people. Well intentioned and gracious. Iron Blosam is full of such folks. Had fun talking to so many people.

As I’m writing this, dinner is in the oven (fish), and we’re contemplating going back to the pool for awhile.
