Hill Air Museum – Ogden, Utah 5/15/2013

MAY 15, 2013 (Wednesday)

Tried again for the Hill Air Museum. We went a route that we were certain would lead us to the front entrance. What a nice museum. It is huge, contained in two hangers. It has a copy of the Wright Brothers Flyer and goes forward to near present day. Everyone was nice. We even ran into a docent who had lived for a time in our area of California. He was a font of information about the planes and the history. Fun time. Michael got to see a Lockheed Blackbird. What an impressive machine, SR-71. They had a TV set up playing a nice video on the SR-71.  His day was made. Later we ate at Olive Garden and then headed back to our timeshare.

I took 20 pictures of the SR-71 and this is the only one that turned out at all. It is still in stealth mode even in the hanger, Dull black, not enough flash to light it up. A remarkable machine.

The museum started with a mock up of the Wright Brothers Flyer and came real close to the present. On this adventure we will be at Kitty Hawk and I hope to include a photo of whatever memorial to the Wright Brothers might be there.

  1. Love the aviation museums. Very cool. Did they have a p-38? TJ and I always love seeing intact ones, as we sat in the carnage of the WWII P-38 that crashed on Attu.
